Recent Books for Lacemakers and Tatters

November 8th, 2015

bl292Each year at about this time we like to bring  the latest crop of tatting and lacemaking books to your attention.

The title of Kumiko Nakazaki’s latest pattern folder – Birds & Flowers – Little Masterpieces in Binche – describes it completely !  We can always depend on this popular designer to bring us exquisite lace and to present it in an exceptional way and her latest certainly does not disappoint. This is a must for experienced lacemakers interested in Binche.

Sadly, no new big title book from the ever-popular Ulrike Voelcker this year.  But there is always something from that source and right now it’s 6 Sterne, a folder of star patterns which can be worked using torchon or point ground techniques.

Any new pattern book from Bucks Point designer Jane Lewis is always well received. Her latest, Simply Bucks – In the Round, is a collection of beautiful patterns for circular Bucks Point projects and has already proved very popular.

Amongst others that have recently appeared are Brigitte Bellon’s Geklöppelte Schmetterlinge – Bobbin Lace Butterflies, Marianne Geißendörfer & Dana Mihulková’s Bobbin Lace Cones & Steles which features interesting 3D shapes and – for miniaturists and those interested in the iconic ‘Barbie’ doll – Barbie’s Lace – Klöppel-Spitzen für Barbie

Beautifully presented Tatted Lace Accessories is particularly good value and focusses mainly on needle tatting techniques while Needle Tatting Techniques & More is perfect for needle tatters  who have learnt the basics and looking for the next step. And. amongst a range of small project booklets we now offer, is Tatted Snowflakes by the well-known tatter, Jennifer Williams.

Plenty there for everyone, plenty for the Christmas stocking !
