This revised second edition will be welcomed by those with an interest in Irish crochet laces, particularly as the original edition, published in 2002, has become quite scarce.
The author has spent many years finding and interviewng those in the Clones area of south Ulster who had the skills to make this lace which had been passed down from mother to daughter over 150 years.
About half of the book describes the development and history of the lace which had its origins as a response to the famine around 1847. It is well illustrated throughout, including a section of colour photographs showing modern-day usage.
The second half is mainly devoted to a detailed description of the techniques and includes instructions for 21 motifs, a number of edgings and twelve projects designed by the author.
