Now, a very useful addition to the lacemaking library - an introductory on Valenciennes lace.
After a short history of the lace and the equipment, the basic technical features of the lace are described in detail - including the ground, carrying pairs into and out of motifs, the "pea", headside and footside, corner, etc The ten patterns that follow may then be used to practice the techniques while working useful projects. Suggestions for use of the lace for a Christening gown are even included.
Very clear, patterns, colour assisted diagrams and superb photography throughout. All the text is in French so some knowledge of the language is certainly useful.
