The authur has used a set of patterns (labelled Course for proper pupils in bobbin lacemaking I - probably dating from between 1908 and 1918) found in the collection of Vocational School for Arts, Craft, Fashion and Artistic Design, in Vienna. These she has "brought back to life" with redrafted patterns and excellent presentation. The 52 Viennese lace patterns - each with pricking, colour-assisted diagrams, excellent photographs and notes - range from the most basic to more complex pieces.
