Sarah learned to make lace in the mid 1980's when she and her Mum Sue saw a demonstration of lacemaking at a craft fair. They both joined the lace group giving the demonstration (Sarah was just 10 years old at the time) and within a couple of years set up their own lace group called Harlequin Lace. Teaching lacemaking soon led to designing lace, and in time they began manufacturing lacemaking equipment.
Sue went on to get her City and Guilds in Lacemaking in the 1990's and many lace patterns were inspired by this.
Sarah took over Harlequin Lace in 2013 after Sue sadly died and has carried on the legacy of new designs, giving a modern twist to a traditional craft.
