Written based on information brought together in preparation for the exhibition of the same name, held in Northampton in September 1999, this book brings together aspects of the lace industry in Northamptonshire in the past.

As such, it gives a very interesting account of the cottage lace makers in the County, the lace dealers and merchants who provided a structure to the trade and its decline during the last half of the 19th century. It also describes the work of the Midland Lace Association which attempted, with some success, to help to bring some revival as well as the pioneers of hobby lacemaking that we know today

A must for anyone interested in lace making in the past.
