by Consiglia Azzopardi

A large collection of patterns redrafted from the traditional patterns, originally created by Dun Guzepp Diacono (1847-1924), a priest on the Maltese island of Gozo. After 1846, lacemaking began to be revived on the island, based on Genoan lace but soon began to develop a characteristic style of its own and it was this style that was used by Dun Guzepp Diacono in new designs which he used to promote a lacemaking industry there, a well established lace, taught in local trade schools and valued and admired by tourists and lace enthusiasts alike.

Includes patterns for about 25 'ornaments', edgings, table cloth, collars, runners, and more. Each of the patterns is coloured to assist the lacemaker to visualise the finished lace and is supported by useful hints and notes on bobbin requirement There is a section of coloured photographs showing the original patterns and an introduction outlining the life of Dun Guzepp Diacono.

In generally excellent. Signed by author on title page.
