Gozo Lace - an Introduction
by Consiglia Azzopardi
Those lace was re-introduced to Gozo, the Maltese island, by Dun Guzepp Diacono, a priest, who brought a piece of Genoese lace to the island in about 1846 and encouraged Marjanna Attard to work similar lace.
The lace soon developed a characteristic of its own. At first it provided extra income to families who otherwise had only a meagre income from agricultural work but over time, as elsewhere, it developed - albeit sometimes spasmodically and with setbacks - to a well established lace, taught in local trade schools and valued and admired by tourists and lace enthusiasts alike.
Includes full instructions for the techniques and is thoroughly illustrated throughout with black and white photographs and very clear diagrams and patterns.
In very good condition.
