Kloppeln - 40 Grazer Lace Patterns
by Emma de Ro
Grazer Lace developed in the Austrian City of Graz during the Art Nouveau period around 1910. Then, for around 100 years it was largely forgotten but has now been revisited by the author, presenting its features - particularly the spectacular use of colour - for us to try.
It opens with a section which describes the stitches used in making the lace, with very clear diagrams and a glossary of the symbols used in English, French and Italian
Then, after a very well described and well illustrated section on the techniques and methods involved, the main section offers 40 excellent and colourful projects, arranged in four sections - Flowers, Edgings, Doilies and Jewellery. Most of these make full use of the colour techniques that are a particular feature of this lace. All are thoroughly presented with very clear patterns, detail diagrams were needed and colour photographs, The instruction text is in German but is supported by a glossary in English, French and Italian.
Certainly something for those wishing to feature colour in their lace.
Essentially as-new condition.
