A study, based on the work of the OIDFA Work Group on ‘Lace in German Folk Costumes’, of the lace found on the traditional blue clothing in the Schwalm region of Hessen, Germany.

It begins with a history of these costumes followed by a detailed description of each part of the costumes, the processes involved and the types of lace that are used.

There follows, 15 reconstructed patterns for the traditional laces, well supported by text and photographs. The book is accompanied by a loose fold-out sheet with colour-assisted working diagrams.
