A beautifully presented work which explores the riches of Russian embroidery and lace, much of which have not been seen outside of Russia.

After a forward by the late Santina Levey, the authors go on to describe and explore in details the magnificent collections of embroidery and of lace that are held at the Russian Historical Museum, Moscow.

The first section of the book explores the museum's outstanding embroidery collection which includes pieces from the 12th to the early 20th century, including embroidered garments, ecclesiastical items and decorative domestic pieces

This section that follows, covering the museum' magnificent collection of Russian bobbin lace includes lace of gold and silver thread dating from the 17th and 18th centuries and lace of cotton, linen and silk from the later centuries.

All are illustrated by excellent photographs, many full-page, 191 in all, 125 in colour.

This book is a must for embroidery and lace historians - and, indeed, is of interest to embroiderers and lace makers in general.

In very good condition.
