by Marie Laurie & Annette Meldrum

Borris Lace is a needlelace which had its origins, during the Irish famine (1846-1848), in the small town of Borris, County Carlow, Ireland, with the help and support of Lady Harriet Kavanagh which was to continue with other generations of that family, living locally at Borris House. It was to continue, with some success, until the 1960s when what remained was stored away at Borris House.

It was in 1985 when Australian lacemaker, Marie Laurie first visited there and, seeing its importance, set about finding more about the lace and broadening the awareness of it in the lace world as well as beginning a collaboration on the project with Annette Meldrum, also an Australian.

Includes a section on working methods with 16 patterns, supported by diagrams, clear photographs and notes.

Many more excellent black and white photographs and diagrams and colour photographs.

An unusual and well presented book which is a must for those interested in this lace form.

In excellent, essentially as-new condition
