The author presents a single Torchon lace design - with Torchon stitch, Roseground, small hearts in half stitch and gimps - and offers a series of variations, playing with shapes, colours, sizes and uses to produce ten different patterns. These include a handkerchief edge, a table runner, a rectangular and a hexagonal insertion, edgings for round and oval mats, a square mat and hearts with handles - a decoration for the typical Danish Christmas tree.
Each pattern is complete with a photograph of the finished lace, pricking and colour coded working diagram .
